TurboCAD v7.1 patches for Pro, Standard and Designer

What's new in TurboCAD v7.1

TurboCAD Professional, Standard or Designer v7.0 users can now download (free of charge ) a patch file to upgrade their version 7.0 files to version 7.1. The patch file when run will ask for the original TurboCAD v7.0 setup files. It will then use the older installation files to create a new set of installation files on the hard drive. Please follow the instructions below:

1. Download the patch file

TurboCAD Standard v7.1 patch (5.36 MB)

TurboCAD Designer v7.1 patch (3.52 MB)

Due to the largish nature of the download (8.66 Mb) TurboCAD Professional v7.1 patch has been supplied in two locations:

A. One File - recommended for High Bandwidth

For users of DSL or Cable, or other high bandwidth Internet connections, one file has been supplied:

TurboCADProv71Patch.exe (8.66 MB)

B. Segment Files - recommended for Low Bandwidth

Users of a standard modem connection may be interested in downloading several small files rather than one big file. If your Internet connection is interrupted, it will be possible to continue the download from the most recently interrupted file rather than having to start the download process from scratch. Seven files can be found at:

TCPro71PatchSegments.exe (1.38 MB)
TCPro71PatchSegments.r00 (1.38 MB)
TCPro71PatchSegments.r01 (1.38 MB)
TCPro71PatchSegments.r02 (1.38 MB)
TCPro71PatchSegments.r03 (1.38 MB)
TCPro71PatchSegments.r04 (1.38 MB)
TCPro71PatchSegments.r05 (225 KB)

Copy all these files to a temporary folder on your hard drive. Once the copying procedure is complete then run the "TCPro71PatchSegments.exe"  file from your hard drive. This will combine the segment files into one 8.66 MB file called "TurboCADProv71Patch.exe". Please note that this extracting and combining process can take several minutes.

2. Run the patch file

Once the "TurboCADProv71Patch.exe" (or Standard and Designer) file is located on your hard drive follow the instructions below.

A. Get original v7.0 CD and place it in your CD ROM. If the AutoRun installation page is launched click the "Exit" button to close this window.

B. Run the file "TurboCADProv71Patch.exe" (or Standard and Designer)

C. At the prompt "Specify location of TurboCAD Professional v7 installer files" click the "Browse" button. Navigate to the "Bin" folder on the CD ROM drive and click OK. The prompt should now read "D:\Bin" where D: is the drive letter of your CD ROM.

Note: If you purchased the ESD (Download) version of TurboCAD Pro the install files will most likely be located in the
"C:\Program Files\TurboCAD Professional v7.0 Setup" folder. If you cannot locate this folder you will have to reinstall v7.0 and see where the default location for extracting the files is on your hard drive is.

D. Go to Lunch. Once the installation patch file is launched it takes the original installation files and uses them to create new installation files on the hard drive. Along the way it fixes several issues related to installations on international versions of Windows and also other issues relating to future operating systems such as Windows XP. This process can take up to as much as an HOUR on a P200, so please be prepared to wait a little for it to complete. When it is completed you will get a message informing you to remove version 7.0 and then install version 7.1.

Question: Why must I uninstall v7.0 after I have decompressed the program files to my hard drive?

Due to inconsistencies related to the installation of TurboCAD v7.0 verses v7.1, it is required that the older v7.0 be removed in order for the newer program to be able to install the ESD files.

Question: What's New to v7.1 as opposed to v7

Here is an extract from the v7.1 ReadMe

  1. Paper Space Order. Change the order of paperspace via Drag and Drop. The changes are saved in the TCW file.
  2. Fillet. Options for resultant object to be "Lines and Arcs" as opposed to creating a continuous polyline
  3. Object Trim and Split now works for a Polyline with Arc Segments.
  4. Inspector Bar. Text labels can be optionally placed Inline (next to input fields) or Stacked (above input fields). Use Options|Desktop to select the option you prefer.
  5. Cylinder tool. "Diameter" field for Cylinder was added.
  6. Printing now has an option to print all colors as "Black only".
  7. Palettes. "Dock-able" and "Roll-Up" options when dragging & dropping the palette onto the drawing. A "Create New Palette" window appears.
  8. Customize. The ability to add items to Local Menu.
  9. FP Bridge. Compatibility with FloorPlan v6.
  10. Hidden Line Render can now show intersections (set in render properties).
  11. 3D Objects (ACIS) - Properties of certain 3D objects (e.g. Lofting) now contain a "Minimize Twist" option, which improves the quality of the resultant 3D ACIS objects.
  12. Dimensions. Additional Units of measurement in Angular Dimensions (such as Rads, Radians and Surveyor).
  13. User Interface. Appearance of "Tip of the Day" dialog was changed.
  14. User Interface. "Open Last Edited" - was added to "New TurboCAD Drawing" dialog.
  15. Materials. "Load Materials", "Save Materials", "Restore Default Materials" menu items were introduced to the Options menu.
  16. "Save Materials" saves the user's Materials file. The "Select Materials" window in the "Save Materials To File" panel allows the selection of specific materials to save.
  17. "Load Materials" loads user's Materials file.
  18. "Restore Default Materials" - restores default materials. When this option is used the default materials settings are restored, but the materials added by user remain the same.
  19. When a drawing is opened that contains Materials with the same names that already exist in the current Materials file, but have different settings, a "Confirm Material Replace" panel appears. This allows the user to enter a new name for the material or to overwrite the settings for the material.
  20. Improved Help. Many help sections have been updated and improved.
